I’m a bit late for this but the saying is “Better late than never” so here goes!!!

My son-in-law Tracy Drake, much loved by his daughters Evin Nicole Bender and Sarah Christina Drake remembered their father for his special Day.

Evin is now a medical Doctor and doing residency in a little town in north east of Pennsylvania where she lives with her husband Mathew Bender (I call him a genius) who has Prenault Version Creative and puts my flosfollies.com on the internet for me.

UPS dropped off two packages to Tracy for Father’s Day, at our front door.

This adorable set of book ends from Evin and Matt Bender is so appreciated besides being so fitting as Tracy had gone to and graduated from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on a scholarship and after graduation was inducted into the US Navy as an officer on a naval destroyer ship.

This Japanese bonsai tree from Sarah is also very appropriate since while serving as CEO of the Columbiana Port Authority in East Liverpool on the Ohio river, he went to Japan and convinced Mitsubishi to place a plant in Columbiana county Ohio.

THE HAPPY FATHER VERY PROUD OF HIS DAUGHTERS

He absolutely adored his Grandpa Floyd Carpenter. And……..I believe his Grandpa Floyd truly loved him!!!!!

It was such a sad day for my great grandson Levi Carpenter when his beloved Grandpa Floyd went to live with the angels.

Such a happy inquisitive and exploring wonders of the world little boy he was.

image1

While on vacation with his other Grandpa Joey (they call Pappy) and Gramma Meredythe Wedding at a lake in Canada, he proudly shows you a fish he caught with his own fishing pole.

Here he is in an oil painting on canvas done by his great gramma Flo (me).

This little boy is loaded with grandparents and as all children do, he expected them all to live forever.

So after spending endless interesting times with his special Grandpa Floyd until Levi grew into a young man it seemed so wrong when his beloved Grandpa was no longer with us

Time helps to heal wounds but something happened that works better than time for this young man.

Grandpa Floyd Carpenter left his grandson Levi his antique Oliver tractor.

Above you see Levi sitting on Grandpa Floyd’s tractor ready to proudly drive it in the West Mansfield Ohio Fourth of July parade.

With a little heavenly imagination, you and I can see Grandpa Floyd Carpenter happily riding along with Levi right HERE ON EARTH !!

It’s the lucky people who are given admittance to The Gables Nursing Home In Marysville Ohio which is owned by the Marysville hospital. My granddaughter Jodi Wedding who has multiple sclerosis is one of the lucky people as is my niece Betty Eastman Rae and my niece Virginia Rockhold Davis.

This story is about Virginia, daughter of my brother Carl Rockhold and his wife Gladys Sandusky Rockhold. Virginia’s younger sister Janice lives at St Arbors in North Lewisburg Ohio where she has her own apartment and her sister Irene sadly is no longer with us. Their mother Gladys died soon after Baby Janice was born.

Their father married Leslie Bowen giving his little girls a new mother.

Above Lowell Davis riding in combine with son Carl William Davis (Butch), you can see they are each enjoying this. Since this picture was taken October 2016 I would guess they are combining soy beans.

So……you can see how the family of my niece Virginia Davis manages to go on with Virginia being at Gables Nursing Home where they know she is being taken care of in a wonderful home like fashion.

With the many amenities that I have shown you here there are more I haven’t mentioned perhaps you can understand why I call The Gables Nursing Home A HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

They board a United plane out of Tampa Florida Airport to start their direct flight to San Francisco where they load their carefully packed luggage in a rented car and take off for a cottage on the bank looking out at that beautiful Pacific Ocean surf washing up on the rocks. Let’s have a look-see.

Well actually…….I did have company. Here are pictures of them.

Rambo and Kiki

Rambo and Kiki

homealone02

Rambo licks my broken toes, he is a seven year old Yorkshire

And I have wonderful neighbors who were constantly looking after my needs. Pat and Darlene, who live across the street came immediately when I called to tell them the rain had filled our pool close to running over. Since we continued to have cloud bursts they came back one morning and ran off the excess water before I was even out of bed. Aren’t they Sweetheart neighbors?  I’m so fortunate to have them!!

And every morning when I opened our front door right there leaning against the wall was the morning paper that had been thrown just to the end of our driveway. Those lovely girls had brought it over to the door for me. Then in the mid afternoon, I’d find my daily mail had been brought to my door.

My daughter Pamela and her husband Tracy Drake are taking a weeks vacation on the California coast north of Napa Valley.

Kiki and little Rambo would miss Tracy and Pamela so I brought each of their beds into my bedroom where I spend most of each day playing spider solitaire on my iPad while propped up with pillows. However, since we had rain every day accompanied by loud thunder, tiny Rambo spent much time on my bed. It makes him feel safe.

They are paper trained so I don’t have to take them outside which this old lady couldn’t do anyway. And Tracy left packages of padded papers for me to keep replacing.

I give them a treat of dry dog food in the morning and at 4:00 in the afternoon they get a serving of Wellness dog food from a can. They both try to tell me it’s feeding time from about 3:00 all the way up to the actual time. They are kinda smart thinking with Tracy gone I won’t know the difference.

Pamela is a Medical Doctor and sees patients at her down town Sarasota office, Tracy is a retired lawyer (actually he didn’t like lawyer work and after a couple years he started working at the Port Authority and was CEO at the Columbiana Port Authority on the Ohio River at East Liverpool Ohio for many years).

He left enough good food to last me a month although they were gone only a week. He is really a terrific chef,  besides being a great terrific son-in-law.

Pamela and Tracy are back home now and Rambo, Kiki and I are STILL ALIVE AND KICKING!!!!!!!!
