It all started soon after she learned to crawl. As I am preparing food, I look up at my kitchen door and, oh my goodness, there stands my brother’s wife holding my seven month old baby Meredythe. She was supposed to be with my mother and father who lived just across the road from where I lived with my husband and two little girls.

My sister-in-law said, “As I was driving up to park by the house I saw her crawling across the road so I stopped my car, picked her up and brought her home.” “Oh! My! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” How very frightening!

When we moved to the farm we purchased, she was two years old.  I dressed her in a red snowsuit that allowed me to spot her more easily as she roamed our farm.  As I am outside looking around for her, I notice a little red snowsuit followed by a little black and white collie back in the field walking along a fence row.

A local lady Alberta Foos came into my drive way, got out of her car, opened the back door and out came a little black and white dog, my little Meredythe and her doll baby buggy. Alberta said, “I picked her up over by the stone quarry headed for town.” “Thank you, thank you.”

It wasn’t long after that a friend Neiry Waugh comes in my drive with the same little entourage!  Out of her car door steps our little black and white collie, little Meredythe and her doll baby buggy.  This time she was going the other way on our road and was just approaching the bridge crossing the creek that bordered our farm.

RIDE EM COWGIRL!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey! Looks like the real thing doesn’t it? We found it on a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado the summer she was 13.

She married a local boy Joseph Wedding II (Joey) and has lived since then about three miles from where she grew up on our farm.

However, I must tell you that, always on the go, little girl is now itching to be on the go again.

She wants to move to the delightful town Dillon, Montana nestled in the valley between two beautiful mountain ranges!!!!

What a beautiful oil painting. Great work! And, just yesterday I was thinking about how I could get Jodi, Joey , and myself to Montana!

I had forgotten about this story. After all these years I still can’t stay in one place too long. After a few months in Ohio,I am ready to go back to Montana. And, vice versa, too long in Montana and I am ready to return to Ohio.
