Soon after arriving at the Baltimore-Washington airport and settled in their Columbia, Maryland home, it was, “Gramma, can we make Easter cupcakes?”   That was my little, not yet four year old granddaughter Evin’s inquiry.

Any Gramma would do just what I did!  I made cupcakes, iced them and then the fun began!!!

As I finish icing the cakes, little Evin pushed a kitchen chair from the table up to the other side of the counter, climbed up and stood on the chair and started decorating the tops of the cakes. Gramma’s little helper!!!

But what a surprise! ” Pamela, you gotta come in here and see this. Your little three and a half year old daughter is doing a better job decorating these cupcakes than your mother is!” We got us a LITTLE BUDDING ARTIST!!!!

The only thing left to do now is see if those pretty decorated cupcakes are good enough to eat.

So now it’s “Gramma, can we do this again some time?”

And to be sure, when I’m back at their home for Christmas, what do you think little, now four year old Evin wants to do? That’s right! She wants to help Gramma make ‘cut out’ Christmas cookies and decorate them.

So………Gramma makes a batch of sugar cookie dough, rolls it out and we each cut out Christmas cookies. We make Christmas trees and wreaths, gingerbread boys, Santa faces, baby buggies, stars and some I can’t even remember any more. Now all the fun of decorating them begins!!!!

“Gramma can we make Christmas cookies?” It’s Christmas again and this time I came into Pittsburgh airport. They have moved to Quaker Lane in Salem, Ohio. And that tiny baby, in the carrier you saw on that kitchen counter, is now big enough to pull up a chair and help.

Hey, what can I say! After all it is CHRISTMAS!!! THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!!
