So this is how it all begins. My sons-in-law Tracy Drake from Salem, Ohio and Terrell Smith from Lawrenceville, Georgia decide to go fishing with my son-in-law Joey Wedding from York Center, Ohio.

All of my family had come into the area to attend my parents, “Levi and Mary Etta Rockhold”, reunion. My sisters and brothers, their children and grand children along with me and my family, came from Florida, Georgia, New York, Montana, Kentucky, California and all over Ohio.

Remember, my parents had thirteen children! Our Rockhold family scattered far and wide!

At this reunion, Tracy, Terrell and Joey, who seldom get together, decide to go fishing. And……where is the best fishing around York Center? The abandoned “Rockhold Stone Quarry” that I grew up beside of! Being spring fed, it filled with cold clear blue water and is now a good size deep lake.

Best of all, it had been stocked with blue gill, that thrived and multiplied.  What fun they are all having!  They no sooner cast into the water and BINGO, THEY HAVE A BITE!  One right after another, to reel in.  I’m sure you will agree, if you like to fish or not, it is much more enjoyable to catch a fish often, than to sit there waiting and waiting then maybe……..you get a nibble!

3son02They bring all that beautiful catch of blue gill to my daughter Meredythe and Joey’s home just outside of York Center, where Joey has a neat stainless steel set up to clean fish, in his barn, and he says, “Now we all go to work and clean these fish.”

Tracy and Terrell give that, “Who me?” look! And get a “Well…yeh! If you catch fish, you then have to clean and prepare them to cook!”

3son03Then Joey added, “We never, let me emphasize, NEVER, throw fish away!”

3son04After the three of them finish cleaning all those beautiful blue gill, our family’s “TOP SEAFOOD CHEF” my son-in-law Joey deep fries them to a delicious light golden brown for our family’s evening meal.

There are my daughters Susie (Carole), Meredythe, Pamela, all my grandchildren and MY THREE SONS-IN-LAW to feast on those, deep fried to perfection, delicious blue gill!

YUM! YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
