As often happened, I had taken my mother and five year old daughter Pamela Dawn to Marion Ohio, a twenty mile drive from my farm home, to go shopping.
It was just before Mother’s Day. While I went to another store down the street I left Pamela with my mother. In the meantime as they are looking around Pamela finds a present and gets $5 from my mother to purchase it to give to me for Mother’s Day.
All the way home she is basking in the joy of having a secret gift to give me. On returning home she hangs on tight to that present that is in what looks like a large shoe box. But I know it is not shoes.
Then the school bus drives up to a stop and out come her sisters, Susie, who goes directly to her room, like most teenagers, and her sister Meredythe happily bouncing in the door. Holding her boxed gift, Pamela rushes over to meet her, takes the lid off the box and they both peek in. One good look at the contents, they each raise their head and laugh.
Well………..whatever it is in that box……..it’s funny.
THEN COMES MOTHER’S DAY!!!!!!
Little Pamela, with a big smile showing how pleased she felt, handed me her wrapped package. And here it is!!!!
THAT PRECIOUS LITTLE GIRL gave me a RABBIT COOKIE JAR!!!!!!!!!!!
It has remained in my kitchen to this day!! It moved with me from the farm in Ohio to a condo in Marion Ohio to an apartment in Park Forest Illinois, to a house in Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania, to a house in Venice Florida, to a condo in Bird Bay Village Venice Florida and back up north in the snow belt, a condo in Highland Creek Salem Ohio.
IT’S A KEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi
Are you Janie? I don’t remember your sisters name. Meredythe spoke of you just a few years ago about how you joined them for good times.
Where do you live now and what are you doing? Meredythe and Joey Wedding have moved to Dillon Montana and love living in that beautiful country seeing the mountains all around them. They kept their summer home and fishing boat on Catauba Island, Lake Erie so will be back in Ohio for summers.
I am back in Florida now and plan to stay here. This is home to me.
I’m 93 years old, my brother Howard Rockhold is 90 and my sister Fannie Hoffman will be 98 on April 30th this year. Out of our parents 13 children we are the ones still living.
I would like to hear from you

Hi Sue Ann
I just got off the phone with Meredythe in Dillon Montana where they live now. She said she used to see you often when she would be out shopping and she mentioned how nice you are. I just thought you might like to know that.
Thank you so much for your comment. I loved hearing from you.
Gratefully
