The night is getting late as I sit on my lanai looking out across the pool. As the water ripples along the edge on the far side, just for a second……I thought I saw a black streak rippling through the wave of water.  Probably just my overly active imagination. So I go to bed.

My husband had left early for his masonry work and although I really love my DaVinci Drive Florida home with it’s large caged pool and on a lakefront, I am working as a Real Estate agent and on this beautiful sunny morning I really should get ready to go to the office.

As I slip out of my nighty, step one foot into the shower, my other foot raised ready to step in……I notice against the BACK WALL of my shower lay a THREE FOOT LONG SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn’t moving……but I am….as I very slowly back out of there, get dressed, go next door and ring the door bell. I don’t know who lives in this house. A kindly looking older man comes to the door. I tell him a snake is in my shower. He smiles graciously and says “Give me a minute.”

He comes back with a card board box about 10″x14″x8″ deep. As we walk to my home he says “When I lay this box in your shower, within fifteen minutes the snake will crawl into the box. They like something close over their head.” He lay that box on it’s side on the floor of my shower. We both slowly move back while very quietly watching. Within about five minutes that snake crawls into the box. I am both amazed and delighted!

This very kind hearted neighbor slowly closes the lid, and carefully turns the box up-right. I walk with him as he gently carries the box out through the yard behind my home and tosses the box, snake and all into the lake. The waves soon carry the box quite a distance out. We both watch the snake sliver out of the box into the water.

I have to SEE that snake go into the lake to be sure it is NO LONGER IN MY HOME! OK! Now I can take a SHOWER!

This kindly neighbor tells me he never kills anything he finds in his home. He collects them in a box, takes them outside and GIVES THEM THEIR FREEDOM!!!!

I would like to say that I follow his way of getting unwanted creatures out of my home. Well I’m sorry if this disappoints you, but since that experience I still kill them but I never fail to remember that KIND HEARTED MAN and feel a little guilty!

But then, I have NEVER AGAIN had a SNAKE in my HOUSE!!!!!!!!!! NOW………..WHERE DID I PUT THAT CARDBOARD BOX?????????????
